Being Open (A New Place)

2019 was the most difficult year of my life. There are many reasons 2019 was awful and I’m not quite at the point where I want to go into them in written form, perhaps one day I’ll be open enough to go into it a bit more for now but let's just say 2020 has been a breeze compared to 2019 and considering how terrible this year has been for everyone, that should give you an idea of how bad 2019 was to me.

The reason I’m opening up with such a declaration is that it’s this exact point that’s caused me to set up a new blog and to start writing this post. I want to write & share more, not just for my professional career but also to use it as a sort of therapy in a time where it’s extremely difficult to just sit down with a friend and talk over a drink or two.

I’m still unsure as to what the purpose of this blog will be. I like to think I’ll write about the experiences I’ve gone through in my professional career from starting off at 21 with no idea, all the way through to running a technology company I co-founded over 5 years ago. Throughout that time I’ve made so many decisions and looking back, I think there’s value in exploring why I made those decisions and the experiences in my life that helped me decide what to do.

However, I’m naturally quite a guarded person, I keep things to myself and as I enter into a new phase in my life (hopefully more on that at a later point), I want to open up more and share things with those that care to read/listen. There is a good chance that I never get to the point where I’m open enough to share the details that are needed to explain why certain decisions are made so this blog may fall back into being something that is used to share some interesting articles/videos on the things I’m passionate about (see bio) and that’s it. Only time will tell…

At the moment, I’m not planning on sharing this blog much and it’ll be something for people who may stop by my website (http://gjbdigital.com/) to find and given there isn’t much reason to head there at the moment, I’m not sure if anyone will ever read this. If you do, I hope alongside this very self-indulgent short post is a series of longer articles that actually provide value & intrigue to those reading them.

For the time being, thank you for indulging me and stay safe and healthy.
